Sophie Martin-Castex
The Wandsworth In View photography contest is an annual event that attracts a high standard of entries and is organised by the Wandsworth Arts Office. Sophie has been taking serious photographs for over a year now and her skills has gone from strength to strength, her major talent being portrait photography. Her entry to WIV consisted of a mixed folio of portraits, landscape and an action image of her son on a swing. Titled "High Flyer" this image was runner up in the snapshot category. Overall the contest received over 500 entries.

Sophie joined UKlandscape in the summer of 2000, nearly a year after UKL had launched. And though the site was getting hits and attention from the beginning, progress overall was slow. Sophie devised our present magazine format, added the galleries listing and then the interviews with celebrity photographers. The effect on UKL's viewing figures was enormous with increases month by month that are still happening. Her pages are the most popular on the UKL website and she is well known in the galleries circuit.
